The NEWS for the GNU coreutils project
only gives a very brief summary of new features without linking to the associated discussions. Also it doesn't mention ideas that were rejected which are often very informative, nor
ideas that are agreed upon, but not yet implemented. To this end I'm summarising the discussions from the mailing
lists every quarter or so. Note also the coreutils bug tracker
has been integrated with the mailing list since 26 Mar 2010.
